Bereavement Ministry

This ministry provides support to those who have experienced the death of a loved one. An 8 week support group is held each year in the Fall and at other times during the year.

Creation Care Ministry

Mission Statement 

“To inspire and mobilize the Catholic community to care for our common home and achieve climate and ecological justice” as prescribed by The Laudato Si’ Action Platform, formulated by Pope Francis. Our objectives are inspired by the seven different goals for the action plan: “the response to the cry of the Earth, the response to the cry of the poor, the ecological economy, the adoption of a simple way of life, ecological education, ecological spirituality and community engagement.” 

Objectives 

Educate: There are many things to learn about the true nature of the crisis. Understanding our faith’s viewpoint about creation and the crisis we are experiencing will help us see ways to help the planet. 

Worship: Praying and talking together will allow us to deeply reflect on our impact on the environment and ways that we can deepen our relationship with God and Earth. We plan to have periodic discussions regarding our values and love of Earth.

Build Sustainable Actions: Pope Francis is calling for ALL to have a deep awakening to how we act towards Earth so that we can cultivate a cleaner, healthier, more vibrant environment for ourselves and for those less fortunate.    

Advocate: Expressing our desire for corporations to use environmentally friendly practices to reduce waste and pollution, stop deforestation of our natural resources such as the Amazon.  We need to keep pushing our lawmakers for social and ecological justice. 

Key Initiatives 

1. Offer Ecological Education in the area of Ecological Spirituality and Conversion, through prayer services.
2. Offer opportunities to read, reflect, dialogue about the current state of our “common home,” a new conversation about how we are shaping the future of our planet and how it affects us all, especially the poor.
3. Offer frequent viewings and conversations of Pope Francis’ latest documentary, “THE LETTER” for a deeper understanding and compassion of “Climate Change” and the ramifications for others when we deny this urgent issue in our world today.
4. Continue to develop and enhance the newly created pollinator garden into a meditation and healing garden. This garden will help teach our parishioners and community how to plant ethically and beneficially. Develop education opportunities regarding native pollinator gardens.
5. Replace single use items that are currently being used for parish events with reusable products, namely tableware—plates, cups, utensils, napkins, and tablecloths. 
6. Provide weekly ecological tips in the Parish Bulletin.

Dinners to Doorsteps

This group provides fellowship and support through a home cooked meal to those suffering through recent illness, disability or hospitalization. Once a month a meal is prepared for the person in need. The cook calls the individual and sets up and day and time convenient for both.

Health Care Ministry

Works to promote the physical, emotional, and spiritual health of our parish community through health education, counseling, community referrals and advocacy.

Justice and Life Co-ordinating Committee

Our patron, St. Teresa of Calcutta, challenges us to touch the dying, the poor, the lonely and the unwanted according to the graces we have received. Therefore, the mission of the Social Justice Committee of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish is to provide parishioners with education in Catholic Social Teachings and opportunities for direct service and actions directed at social change. We hold monthly meetings to plan activities; monthly movies on Sunday afternoons, multiple opportunities to help with social action projects. Join us for the opportunity to get support for implementing your own social justice ideas.

Ministry with the Deaf

We welcome and include in every aspect of parish life, those persons who are Deaf or experience a hearing loss. Weekly 10 am Mass is offered in American Sign Language, voice interpreted for hearing members of the Parish at Holy Saviour Church. Ministry to Persons with Disabilities

We welcome and include in every aspect of parish life, those persons who have physical or developmental disabilities. Monthly activities are offered at McDaid Hall at Holy Saviour. This facility is fully accessible.

We also provide services. We can visit you or your family member in your home, connect and refer you to agencies that can assist you, provide opportunities for prayer, social activities and support groups. There are also volunteer opportunities in this ministry. Please contact Fr. Hugh Bradley for more information.

Pro Life Ministry

Members of this ministry help parishioners become more aware of the issues of pro-life and the effects of the culture of death on our society. Our activities include prayer services, literature distribution, petitions, fundraisers, bulletin inserts, praying at local abortion centers, etc.

Social Action Ministry

The Social Action Ministry’s focus is on opportunities for outreach to provide assistance and friendship to the homebound and the less fortunate in our parish and surrounding communities. Seasonal projects include: Flowers to the Homebound at Christmas and Easter; Christmas Giving Tree; Autumn Coat Drive; Back Pack Collection (August); Adopt-A-Box Toiletry Collection (Lent).

St. Vincent de Paul Society

Provide comfort to the poor by providing assistance with bill payment, food, and cost of medication. Our activities include monthly meetings, monthly sandwich making, home visits.  The SVDP operates a food pantry at the parish, which provides non-perishable food items to those in need. The pantry is open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10AM to 12 Noon in the Faith Formation Center, Lees Ave, Collingswood.

Sandwich Making
Make at home and drop off only until further notice. Please bring your already made sandwiches to Good Shepherd cafeteria on Monday, October 16 at 7PM. Someone will be there to accept your donation.

PLEASE MAKE ONLY TURKEY or BEEF BOLONGA SANDWICHES. Please put cheese on all sandwiches.

310 sandwiches were made in September. 80 for Joseph’s House; 230 to Cathedral Kitchen.

The next discussion meeting will take place on Tues., October 17, at 7PM, in the McDaid Hall meeting room.

Stephen Ministry

Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2, NRSV).

Stephen Ministry is the one-to-one lay caring ministry that takes place in congregations that use the Stephen Series system. Stephen Ministry congregations equip and empower lay caregivers—called Stephen Ministers—to provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care to people who are hurting.

Stephen Ministers are congregation members trained by Stephen Leaders to offer high-quality, one-to-one Christian care to people going through tough times. A Stephen Minister usually provides care to one person at a time, meeting with that person once a week for about an hour. Twice a month, Stephen Ministers gather with their Stephen Leaders for supervision and continuing education.  More information can be found at www.stephenministries.org
